It was a successful day for the Greenfield track team on Wednesday against Athol. 

Ava Fortin won the javelin (78 feet, 9 inches), pole vault (6-6), mile (6 minutes, 32 seconds) and the 800, helping lead the Green Wave girls to a 110-17 victory. The Greenfield boys pulled out a 122-21 triumph over the Bears behind wins in the triple jump (37-0.25), 110 hurdles (16.4) and 400 hurdles from Mason Youmell. 

Rounding out the Green Wave winners on the girls side were Layla Prescott in the discus (70-7), Holly Babineau in the 100 hurdles (23.9) and 400 hurdles, McKenzie Boswell in the 100 (14.3), Alice Fortin in the 400, Amelia Prescott in the 200 and Rose Fortin in the 2 mile. 

Greenfield won the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. 

For Athol, Piper Bailey won the high jump (4-4) while Karleigh Chase took the shot put. 

The Green Wave boys winners were Javion Williams in the long jump (17-2.25), Krish Patel in the high jump (5-8) and 400 (56.8), Jackson Caron in the pole vault (7-5) and the mile (4:14), Jack Laurie in the 100 (11.4) and 200 (24.7) and Dylan Breiwick in the 800 and 2 mile. 

The Greenfield boys won the 4x100 (48.5) and 4x400 (3:44.6) relays. 

For the Bears, Riley Reed won the javelin (115-7) while Nick Leblanc took the shot put (37-0.25) and discus (145-5). 

Pioneer 97, Athol 30 (boys) — Ryan Spofford and Jacob Thomas were among the winners individually as the Panthers took care of business on Wednesday.

Spofford won the 400 (58.9) and 1 mile (5:28) and Thomas crossed first in the 800 (2:49.5) and 2 mile.

Pioneer's Noah Gamache (shot put, 37-9.5), Griffin de Ruiter (triple jump, 34-2.25) and Carter Berthiaume (long jump, 18-0.25) were field event winners on the afternoon.

Athol's Nick LeBlanc had the throw of the day in the discus, recording a heave of 145 feet even to take first place. Riley Reed won the javelin and Hayden Barrieau won the 100 (11.7) and high jump.

Pioneer 116, Athol 15 (girls) — Sahana Heilman and Natalie Rios won three individual events apiece, and the Panthers cruised to a victory on Wednesday in Greenfield.

Heilman took first in the 800 meters (2:45), triple jump (31-5.75) and 100 hurdles (17.1) for Pioneer, and Rios won the long jump (13-1.25), javelin (94-11) and 100 meters (14.1).

Louise Flagollet was a winner in the high jump (4-10) and 400 meters (1:08.6), while Emmanuelle Flagollet (400H, 76.3), Riley Thayer (1 mile, 6:55.8), Sophia Wood (200, 29.4) and Lauryn Kalinowski (2 mile, 14:49.3) also snagged individual wins.

Pioneer also won both relays. Athol's Karleigh Chase won the discus in 66-9 and shot put (29-10).

Girls ultimate

Four Rivers 15, NMH 3 — The Otters beat NMH for the third time this season, buoyed by five goals from Seneca Smith and eight assists from Mabel Kingsley.

Four Rivers will compete in the annual Amherst Invitational this weekend at UMass.

Boys ultimate

Four Rivers 15, NMH 6 — Meir Dragon threw for a goal and scored another, helping the Otters to a dominant victory on Wednesday.

Four Rivers played good team defense with strong play from Ethan Sandberg and Christian Dimitriou.

Baseball

Athol 12, Smith Academy 0 (5) — Logan Cormier tossed a five-inning no hitter for the Bears, striking out nine and allowing just one walk as Athol cruised to a Bi-County North victory in Hatfield on Wednesday. 

Trevor Bullock finished with two hits and three RBIs, Cooper Smith and Eli Wein each knocked a hit and two RBIs, Cormier cracked a hit and an RBI while Ethan Heuer hit safely in the victory for the Bears. 

Turners 9, Franklin Tech 1 — Joey Mosca struck out 11 and allowed just three hits in 6⅔ innings work while adding three hits and RBI at the plate, helping the Thunder earn a Bi-County North victory at Franklin Tech on Wednesday. 

Cam Burnett knocked a hit and an RBI, Dylen Richardson cracked a hit and an RBI while Alex Quezada and Cainen Stevens had RBIs for Turners. 

Hunter Donahue, Jacob Martin and Zaydrien Alamed hit safely for the Eagles. 

Mahar 4, Mohawk Trail 3 — Trailing 3-0 going into the bottom of the seventh, the Warriors rallied and plated three runs to send the game to extras. 

Mahar got one across in the top of the eighth and Will Barnes kept Mohawk Trail off the board in the bottom of the frame, as the Sens escaped with a Bi-County North victory in Buckland on Wednesday. 

Matt Vitello went 6⅔ on the hill for Mahar, striking out 11. Luke Connors tallied three hits and an RBI, Morgan Softic knocked a pair of hits while Vitello, Sam Connors and Lucas Isrow hit safely in the win. 

Ty finished with a hit and an RBI, Phineas Tuttman cracked two hits while Logan Moore pitched all eight innings, striking out eight, not allowing a walk and scattering eight hits. 

Boys volleyball

Frontier 3, Southwick 2 — After splitting the opening four sets, the Redhawks came out firing in the fifth set to come away with a 25-23, 19-25, 25-23, 20-25, 15-13 victory at Goodnow Gymnasium on Wednesday. 

Aleks Carey smashed 33 kills and five aces, Jack Carey put down 13 kills while Tavo Vincent-Warner dished 38 assists for Frontier.
